The GREEN states are the places we've lived. The PURPLE-places we've visted. The ORANGE-is where we went to college, and the PINK-places we've passed through. I was born in North Carolina while my husband was born in Alabama. We both somehow ended up in Tennessee and went to high school there. We love going home and recently took a trip to Gatlinburg and rented a log cabin and went waterfall hunting. We ended up getting lost and driving all the way to the North Carolina state line before we found this gem.
My husband has been in the military for six years and we've endured one-15th month deployment and one 12-month deployment, but there have been so many positives with his job. We are originally from TN and neither one of us had traveled to the west coast so when we got orders for Ft.Huachuca we were so excited to be able to see some of the West coast. The skies in Arizona were like none we had ever seen. The rugged desert was actually very beautiful and we loved going for hikes in the mountains. Another favorite part was the wild bore that we would hear running around at night. The only time we saw them was if we had to get up really early for a flight and they never gave us any trouble.
Our next duty station was HAWAII!! I think everyone should visit Hawaii once in their life. It's absolute paradise and the culture reminded me of living in the south. The locals have rich traditions that are routed around family. There are so many things to do around the island including tons of beautiful secluded beaches! The beaches weren't like anything we have experienced before. We've been to the gulf coast but it really didn't hold a candle to Hawaii. Anytime we had a bad day we would just hop in the car and drive to north shore and stick our toes in the sand and it seemed like everything melted away. The scenery surrounding us everywhere was breathtaking. Some of our favorite things is their zoo, swap meet, Waimea Valley,Kaena Point and...
Waimea Bay
At the top of Diamond Head
And even though Waikiki is VERY touristy we still had fun going there. There is a walkway right across the street from the zoo that you can go and see lots of fish and turtles. The waves were always calm when we went and Collin was even able to relax.
Waikiki
These are just a few of the places we loved and these are all on the island of Oahu. All the other islands have their own unique things to offer. We have only had a few adventures into Washington, D.C. since our move to Maryland. We are still adjusting to having a newborn and all the accessories they need to travel!
